Forward Deployed. Community Funded.

SCWR is a professional volunteer wildland fire and disaster response department operating in the Los Angeles area. Mission & Purpose

Southern California Wildfire Response (SCWR) is a public nonprofit, all-hazard wildland fire agency serving Los Angeles and neighboring counties. Formerly operating as LAIT911 Fire, we were established in 2021 to close the gap between when disasters begin and when help arrives — with boots on the ground, not from the sidelines.

Southern California’s disaster environment has changed. Extreme fire weather, rapid ignition, and wind-driven fire spread now routinely outpace conventional response timelines. SCWR was built for that reality, combining early detection, real-time public awareness, and trained firefighters conducting active field operations to reduce risk before, during, and after emergencies.

We exist to protect communities, support the broader emergency response system, and place trained personnel where they are needed most — on the line.

ALERTS FOR A SAFER LOS ANGELES

The LAIT911 App delivers real-time emergency alerts, incident tracking, aircraft monitoring, and live radio traffic for Los Angeles — often before responders arrive on scene. Through advanced warning and incident forecasting, the platform helps the public stay informed and prepared as conditions evolve.

Areas with effective early warning systems, such as LAIT911, have significantly reduced disaster-related fatalities. Statistics suggest that regions equipped with these systems can experience up to eight times fewer disaster deaths compared to those without such technology, indicating that the majority of these deaths could be preventable with timely alerts and information.

When incidents move fast, the platform supports clear information flow and situational awareness, helping communities, responders, and decision-makers adapt in real time and reduce the human impact of rapidly changing emergencies.
